I've experienced
this with a few leather corals myself. They don't open up for
a week or two then next thing you know they're open. I believe
it's some kind of regeneration process. It's normal so I wouldn't
worry about it. Just make sure it's in a strong current. |

What's
your opinion on Turbo Calcium? Thanks, Anthony. |
| A.
Anthony,
TC will increase your calcium but it must be added very slowly,
a little bit at a time. Also, if you have sand as a substrate
it tends to bind it together. I would use a calcium reactor
of kalkwasser. |
| Q.
How
does calcium effect alkalinity? Thank you, Nicholas. |
| A.
This
can become tricky. When calcium is too high it lowers the alk.
and vise versa. The levels you want to obtain is 400-450
cal and 3.5 meg/l of alk. |
| Q.
I
also heard that pH and Alk also have effects on each other.
What are they? |
|
A.
When
the Alk is low it will bring the pH with it. If you encounter
this problem, start doing water changes every three days until
the problem is rectified.
