There are a few things that have to be done when doing a water
change. Did you match the salinity and temperature? When was
the last time you did a water change and how much? If you did
match everything it will be fine. Star polyps are hardy. Try
to be consistent with your water changes. |

I'm
a little bit confused and was wondering if you can answer a
question. I have a 55G reef and I'm using an empty wet/dry as
a sump but the prefilter is left in for mechanical filtration.
How often should I clean it? Thanks. John K. |

John,
you should clean it once a week to prevent any bacteria from
colonizing on it. You want all the bacteria to colonize
on the live rock. |

is a loud gurgling noise coming from my overflow box. How can
I quiet it down a little? Thank you, Eric. |

What is causing the gurgling noise is too much of a turnover.
Slow down the GPH.
