| Q.
I
have an undergravel filter in a 30 gallon fish only tank. I
want to remove the plate and get a wet/dry. How can I go about
it without harming anything? |
| A.
Install
the wet/dry, this way the bacteria has a head start. Then remove
1/4 of the gravel every two weeks until all the gravel is gone. |
| Q.
I
just setup a saltwater aquarium. When do I know when the "conditioning
period" is over and I can start adding fish? Thank you,
Jim A. |
| A.
When
you have 0 nitrites then you could start adding fish. |
| Q.
Will
a UV sterilizer be helpful for a fish only tank? |
| A.
A
UV is very helpful in controlling ich, but it only destroys
the ich in its free swimming stage. If not caught right
away, ich can take over and kill a tank of fish in a short period
of time. |
| Q.
I
purchased saltwater Biozyme in hoping to jump start my bacteria.
Will this shorten the cycle process? Thanks in advance,
Christine. |
A.
Biozme
cultured bacteria does not cut much time off the cycling
process.
