| Q.
My
yellow tang has small black dots on its body. What are they? |
| A. If
the black dots are like the size of a grain of salt then it's black
ich. Make sure your water is in check and try buying cleaner shrimp.
Most fish if not stressed will eradicate the ich themselves, if
that doesn't work you might want to consider copper treatment. |
| Q.
How
far should my lights be from the top of my tank? |
|
A.
Fluorescent
bulbs approximately 4-6 inches. Pendant, metal halite about
12 inches.

| Q.
I
have burgundy colored algae along the bottom of my tank. What
can it be? |
| A.
What
you have in your tank is red slime algae. You have a high accumulation
of decaying organic compound (DOC). To rid it scrape the algae
off and siphon it out. Increase the efficiency of your skimmer,
make sure there is adequate current in the tank, use RO/DI filtered
water and if possible try to cut back on feeding. |
