Q. I hope you can tell me what is going wrong with my reef tank. My fish are doing great but my corals seem to be retreating. I have a 90 gallon tank and my water parameters are as follows: Amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, pH 8.3, salt 1.021 and cal is 370.  I use Instant Ocean salt, dose two part calcium and lighting consists of two vho's bulbs.

A. The first thing that caught my attention was the lighting. You have way too little lighting for your corals to survive. The total amount of watts you have is 220. The minimum is 4 watts p/gallon. Also, your specific gravity and calcium are both low.  The specific gravity should be around 1.026, gradually bring your salt up to par. The calcium should be between 400-450ppm.
Q. How do I know when it's time to add a new specimen?

A. You may add new specimens when your current inhabitants have been healthy for one month and the fish show no signs of disease or lack of appetite, and no deaths have occurred. The water chemistry is stable and you have not exceeded your tank's maximum fish capacity.
